Ghent university offers scholarships for master`s students from selected developing countries who wish to study in Belgium and obtain a master`s degree at Ghent University in Belgium 2013

Eligibility:
Degree:
- Applicants for master`s programmes should already have obtained a bachelor degreewhen they submit the application.

Nationality:
-If you are a new student applying for an ICP: Master Grants country list ICP (PDF)
-If you are a new student applying for an ICP and your country is on the VLIR-UOS country list, please apply for the VLIR-UOS scholarship instead. You cannot apply for a Master Grant.
-If you are a student applying for an ICP, but already in your first master: Master Grants country list (PDF) Priority, however, will be given to the categories on the country list with the lowest levels of development and income.
-If you are an applicant for another programme than the ICP`s, you must come from and should be nationals of one of the developing countries on the Master Grants country list (PDF). Priority, however, will be given to the categories on the country list with the lowest levels of development and income.

Language and proficiency:
-The application is to be made in English. The applicant should have a very good command of the English language.

Applicants who already received a Master Grant in the past, are not eligible.
Scholarship Open for International Students:
The applicants must come from and should be nationals of one of the developing countries on the Master Grants country list.

Scholarship Description:
During its meeting of 23 May 2001, the Board of Directors decided that special measures would be taken to provide postgraduate scholarships to candidates from developing countries who wish to obtain a master`s degree at Ghent University.

Number of awards offered: 10 Scholarships are offered.

Tenure of award: It is applicable for 2 years.

Value: The scholarship consists of an allowance of €1000 per month and the yearly tuition fee with a maximum of 80€.

Selection Criteria:
-The qualifications of the applicant for the master grant (this also implies that the chances of overly qualified candidates might increase);
-Students who successfully follow the first year of a Master Grant programme at Ghent University may have a higher chance of selection;
-There is no strict age limit, altough applicants below 40 years are preferred;
-The significance of the master`s programme for the student`s country;
-Validation of the knowledge in the student`s country;
-The student`s nationality (see nationality);
-The motivation of the applicant.

Scholarship 2013 : Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS)

About Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS)

I          The Scheme

The Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is a competitive and prestigious scholarship scheme designed to encourage outstanding graduates or final-year students to take their first step towards a leading research career by studying for a doctoral degree programme (PhD) at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), one of Asia's leading research universities. Funding will be provided for up to 4 years for NPGS awardees.
  
II        Number of awards available

Up to 30 NPGS awards will be made available in each Academic Year. Successful candidates will be known as Nanyang President's Graduate Scholars.
  
III       Minimum qualifications

To qualify for a NPGS award, you must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent at Bachelor's level and applicants should also demonstrate excellent research abilities. The PhD research will be in any topic agreed between you and your chosen NTU supervisor within the research activities of NTU. At the time of application, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate degree programme, you will need to furnish documentation from your university that you are on track to get a First Class Honours degree or equivalent. Failure to do so will disqualify you from the NPGS award, in which case you may be considered for other NTU PhD research scholarships, subject to meeting the selection criteria. IV       Qualification
During the first year, you will be expected to take relevant courses and to work towards passing the qualifying examination. In the event that this qualification is not met, there will be no conversion to a Masters degree for the NPGS awardees.
  
V         Stipend and allowances

The NPGS award terms are:
a)  Monthly stipend of S$3200
b)   Full support of tuition fees
c)  Conference allowance for two major overseas conferences in the 4-year period
d)  One-time IT allowance of S$1500
e)  Annual grant of S$500 for journal subscription or book purchase
f)    Thesis preparation allowance
g) Priority for subsidised campus accommodation
  
VI      Teaching
Upon passing the qualifying examination, NPGS awardees will be expected to undertake some undergraduate teaching (up to a limit of 10 hours per week). Awardees will be reimbursed if their teaching hours exceed what is required by the framework of their PhD training. Undergraduate teaching contributions will demand a high level of English language proficiency and you may be required to undertake English language courses as necessary in your first year.
VII     Nationality

There is no restriction as to the nationality of candidates but, all things being equal preference will be given to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.

Scholarship 2013 : Darmasiswa Scholarship 2013/2014 is Opened


Application for Darmasiswa Scholarship 2013/2014 is Opened!!

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose one of 45 different universities located in different cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture(MoEC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this program was extended to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and USA. In early 90′s, this program was extended further to include all countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia. Until to date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 75 countries.
The main purpose of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries.

DARMASISWA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014
Herewith we submit that the Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia in the academic year 2013/2014 will offer a scholarship of Darmasiswa Program to foreign students to study in Indonesia for 6 months and 1 year (Regular 1 year and Regular 6 months).
In this regard, here we inform you as the following:
A. SCHEDULE OF PROGRAM
1. Registration & Selection through Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General : 8 October – 30 November 2012
2. Administration Selection by Ministry of Education and Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs : 1 – 14 December 2012
3. Academic Selection by Ministry of Education and Culture and Higher Education : 17 December 2012
4. Announcement : 7 January 2013
5. Confirmation of participation : 7 -31 January 2013
6. Commencement :
a. Regular 1 year (September 2013 – July 2014)
b. Reguler 6 month (September 2013 – January 2014)

B. VISA ARRANGEMENT
The Darmasiswa participant is required to have a Social Visit Visa (VKSB) for 60 days issued by the Indonesian Embassy in the participant’s country of residence. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participant’s passport has to be submitted to the Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Culture, for necessary arrangements in obtaining recommendations of the State Secretariat and the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
The participants are prohibited to apply for Tourist Visa or On-Arrival Visa for study purpose.
C. ACCOMODATION
The Ministry of Education and Cultural doesn’t provide the accommodation for participants.
D. COVERAGE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Monthly allowance will be received by participant is Rp 2.000.000,00 (two million rupiah).
a. Living Cost: Rp. 1.200.000
b. Book Allowances: Rp. 200.000
c. Local Transport: Rp. 200.000
d. Medical/Health Care: Rp. 200.000
e. Pocket Money: Rp. 200.000
The participant is advised to bring enough money in US dollar for unexpected additional expenses in Indonesia.
E. PROCEDURES
The applicant should register through the following procedures:
Prospective participants are required to register at the Embassy / Consulate General in the country of origin of participants, and for participants who are not in the participant’s home country is not allowed to be registered through the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General in the participating countries (non-citizenship)
F. QUALIFICATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS
Each participant has to fulfill these requirements as the follows:
a. Not more than 35 years of age.
b. Completed secondary education or its equivalent
c. In good health as proved by Medical Certificate
d. Able to communicate in English and additional Bahasa Indonesia is required
e. Have basic knowledge of the field you’re applying for.
G. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
To apply the Darmasiswa scholarship program, participant must submit a
complete application package to the IE/CG that includes all the following items:
a. Completed admission application form
b. Copy of academic transcript and certificates
c. Copy passport valid at least 18 months from time of arrival in Indonesia.
d. Curriculum vitae/resume
e. Passport size color photograph (5 pieces)
H. ARRIVAL IN INDONESIA
The Ministry of Education and Culture does not provide the return International airfare to Indonesia. We only provide the transportation from Jakarta to place of study; therefore the transportation from place of study to Jakarta will be carried out by participants.
I. HEALTH INSURANCE
The Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) will not provide health insurance; therefore the participants are expected to have the International insurance.
